Surf Hotel – Buena Vista – Colorado

Emily & Isaac had a stormy spring day for their Surf Hotel Wedding in Buena Vista. Emily & Isaac are avid gardeners and artists who both have big ambitions to help their communities. Emily told me that she felt she they were partners in thought & activity & that they share everything. Isaac told me Emily knows every piece of him, and that he feels fully seen by her. I think these two are incredibly special people and I was delighted to share in their big day with their thoughtful & joyful friends and family.

May in Buena Vista consistently amazes me with it’s moody storms and vibrant greens popping up. I love a Surf Hotel wedding any time of year but I think spring in the mountains always has my heart. The Surf Hotel provides such an elegant and beautifully neutral canvas and the posibilities are endless here. With European ski town vibes the space is beautiful enough on it’s own for a Surf Hotel Wedding but I’ve seen some of the most intricate and beautiful decor on display here. Stephanie from Flower Disco took inspiration from spring and created one of the most beautiful floral installations for their ceremony and reception at the Colorado mountain town hotel with soft but vibrant pastels. Pam Zola Weddings really took the planning to the next level and everything looked incredibly sharp and ran smoothly.

We got caught up in the middle of a storm right at the beginning of their ceremony and it was so fun to photograph everyone running for cover when the rain really hit. They wanted to ensure the kiddos at the wedding were included so they had a kiddo parade at the beginning of their ceremony processional. Their parents were very involved in so many ways – Isaac’s dad officiated & his mother sang. Emily’s parents both spoke in ways that really made you know their daughter. They had an epic dance floor with all the millennial hits (my fave) including Mr Bright Eyes of course. I feel so lucky to have gotten to share in this beautiful celebration and their images are some of my faves from 2024!
