Let’s talk about film, baby! I’m a Denver documentary film photographer and I offer film/digital hybrid options for sessions & weddings.
When I started photography in 2010 film was all but dead. Digital was far less expensive & sometimes more expansive. I love how much digital photography has opened the doors for some incredible imagery to be created but it’s also really easy to shoot through everything and never actually hone your eye or your skill. It’s kind of like Ai and how it can be a great resource and save time but will we all lose our brains if we stop thinking for ourselves? Film makes you slow down and it forces you to practice & learn & be curious. Photography no matter what requires skill, practice & knowledge. It requires play, creativity & curiosity. Digital allows us to see images instantly so we can correct our mistakes. Film requires us to be diligent about how we are approaching each image.
Denver Documentary Film Photographer – Film/Digital Hybrid Sessions
I started learning how to shoot film several years ago because I noticed I was taking too many images. I still take too many images. I actually find it to be very exciting to shoot through a moment instead of waiting for the exact right moment. I love the process of people’s smiles, the way their eyes shift. I love seeing that. I find people to be so fascinating. But I also really wanted to be able to hone in on a moment and trust my intuition more. Learning how to shoot film has made me a stronger photographer in so many ways and I love being able to offer along side digital.
I love adding film options on to sessions so if you’re interested please reach out!
