My mission as a Denver documentary maternity & newborn photographer is creating tangible memories of a time in your life that changes everything. The moments are fleeting, growth is measurable every single day. As parents you learn how far your love can extend. How sleepless nights can exhaust you and also make you understand sacrifice in a way you never knew. These are the moments I want to photograph for you- the real life that show how much life is changing, how something so tiny can make such big waves in life.
Documentary in home maternity sessions will always be my favorite. I believe the home to be such a special part of this transition for people. Remembering the home you’ve created for your babe is so special. I also love outdoor sessions and studio sessions. I am especially drawn to water for maternity sessions. The fluidity, the power of water is so symbolic of it all.
Generally I photograph newborns within the first month or two. Newborn photography sessions are generally done within my client’s home which can help remove stress and can be a great way to document some of the beginnings of family rituals. If a home session isn’t your jam I also love studio sessions and outdoor settings weather permitting.
Why These Sessions feel so important
I was born in the 80’s when maternity photographs were not terribly popular nor accessible. So odd, to have such a pivotal part of humanity hidden away under giant dresses. I think I have one or two images of my mum pregnant. I wish I had so much more. I wish to see my mother, to know her during that time. I feel so lucky to live in a time where we have such access to tangible memories. We are so lucky.
Documentary maternity & newborn photography helps us reflect on our roots as we grow. Kids don’t get to experience their families much outside of their childhood experiences. As an adult I think it is so special to *see* my parents when they were the age I am now. Documentary photography is a gift of lineage. And what a gift it is… to be seen.
